Easter has been and gone, but I don't know about you—I've got a mountain of eggs left! What to do with all these eggs? Well, I've got a delicious solution for you. Let’s whip up my scrumptious chocolate cake! Honestly, it’s super tasty, and the kids will absolutely love making it. Just mix the dry ingredients, mix the wet ones, and then combine it all together. Easy peasy!

Why Chocolate Cake?

Chocolate cake is a classic favourite! It’s rich, moist, and oh-so-delicious. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to use up those leftover eggs. You can bake it for a family gathering, a birthday party, or just because it’s a Tuesday! Who needs an excuse for cake, right?

The Joy of Baking Together

Baking is a wonderful activity for families. It brings everyone together in the kitchen, creating memories and delicious treats. Kids love to get involved, and it’s a great way to teach them about measuring, mixing, and following instructions. Plus, they’ll be so proud to share their creation!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s what you’ll need to make this delightful chocolate cake:

  • 200g plain flour

  • 200g sugar

  • 75g cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 large eggs

  • 240ml milk

  • 120ml vegetable oil

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 240ml boiling water

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour two round cake pans.

  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk them together until well mixed.

  3. Add the Wet Ingredients: Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

  4. Incorporate the Boiling Water: Carefully stir in the boiling water. This will make your batter quite thin, but that’s okay! It helps create a moist cake.

  5. Bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.

  6. Cool: Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Decorating Your Cake

Once your cake is cool, it’s time to decorate! You can use your favourite frosting—chocolate buttercream is always a hit! Add sprinkles, fresh fruit, or even some Easter-themed decorations if you’re feeling festive.

Enjoying Your Creation

Now comes the best part—enjoying your delicious chocolate cake! Slice it up and share it with family and friends. You could even serve it with a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat.

Conclusion

So, there you have it! A simple and fun way to use up those leftover eggs. Baking this chocolate cake will not only satisfy your sweet tooth but also create wonderful memories in the kitchen. I hope you give it a try!
