With Christmas just 92 days away, can you believe it? 🎄 It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating the last holiday season! And guess what? In just three months, it will be Christmas Eve! Time really does fly, doesn’t it?
A Perfect Christmas Cake for Kids
Now, let’s talk about something super exciting—Christmas cake! I’ve scaled down my Christmas cake recipe so that the kids can easily join in on the fun. This way, they won’t have a mountain of mixture to mix, just the right amount! Plus, they can decorate it later, which is always a blast.
Ingredients You'll Need
Here are the ingredients you’ll need for our delightful Christmas cake:
200g mixed dried fruit
100g butter
100g brown sugar
2 eggs
200g self-raising flour
1 tsp mixed spice
A splash of milk
Make sure to gather these ingredients before we start baking!
Let’s Get Baking!
Preheat the Oven: First things first, preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F). This will ensure our cake bakes evenly.
Mix the Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until it’s light and fluffy. This is where the magic begins!
Add the Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time. Make sure to mix well after each addition.
Combine the Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, sift together the self-raising flour and mixed spice. Gradually fold this into the wet mixture.
Add the Dried Fruit: Finally, stir in the mixed dried fruit. This is what makes our cake so festive and delicious!
Bake: Pour the mixture into a greased cake tin and bake for about 30-35 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Decorating Time!
Once your cake is baked and cooled, it’s time for the fun part—decorating! You can use icing, sprinkles, or even fresh fruits. Let the kids unleash their creativity! They can make a cake for family, friends, neighbours, or even their teachers! How cool is that?
Share the Joy
Baking is not just about making something delicious; it’s about sharing joy and creating memories. So, save this post and come back for the cake ingredients when you’re ready to bake. I can’t wait to see the wonderful creations you all come up with!
Remember, the best part of baking is enjoying it together. So gather your loved ones, roll up your sleeves, and let’s make some Christmas magic happen!
Let’s get started on this festive journey, and may your kitchens be filled with laughter and joy! Happy baking!
