This Christmas cake has been a family recipe for many years now! Grandma Bun first baked it, each year she would change the alcohol to go in! We all decided Port was the best though! It gives it such a lovely taste.

You don't have to use alcohol, apple, orange or cranberry juice work just as well, but you will need to FREEZE the cake if this is how you are going to bake it, since there will be no alcohol to preserve it.

Here is the fruit soak, and if your not sure about anything watch th video it will help you through...

This is how to put it together once you have soaked that fruit...

Again watch the video and it will help you along so if you are unsure just watch!

Here are some suggested timings for you

  • Soak fruit 24hours to 5 days.

  • Bake 8-10 weeks before Christmas.

  • Feed every 2-3 weeks (1-2tbsp).

  • Stop feeding 1 week before you are going to marzipan the cake.

  • Marzipan first, then leave it to dry 5-7 days.

  • Ice  & decorate the cake, how you wish, let the kids come up with their ideas.

  • Christmas cake ready! Eat!

I hope it becomes a family favourite in your house too.

I'll be posting up how to marzipan and icing your cake nearer to Christmas so you can see how to do it... So do look out, or subscribe to my Youtube channel!
